Coming together to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy.

Once a year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Arizona State University celebrates and honors Dr. Martin Luther King’s mission. In 2020, my team competed against 10 other groups to propose a campaign for MLK Day that promoted student leadership and volunteerism across ASU’s campuses.

I collaborated with my team to design our campaign, “Live as One”. We were inspired by a Martin Luther King Jr. quote that stated; “through our scientific and technological genius, we’ve made of this world a neighborhood…We must all learn to live together.” Our concept emphasized Martin Luther King Jr’s idea that we have transformed our world into a neighborhood and that no matter who you are or where you are, we are all able to live together in harmony and love each other like neighbors.

I helped my team illustrate multiple neighborhood scenes that were diverse in representation and unified through visuals. As the animation specialist on my team, I brought the neighborhoods to life with motion and formatted the animations for the website as well as shareable giphy stickers for social media.

We expanded our concept through t-shirts, stickers, evites, and a handful of other print and digital materials to present our campaign in the finalists.
