Gust of Dust

Experience Arizona haboobs.

STEAMtank is an interdisciplinary project created by InnovationSpace at Arizona State University that brings together students of different educational backgrounds to build experiences that inspire and teach kids about STEAM concepts.

My team, Plum, was a collaborative team of designers, engineers, and business specialists with the goal of developing and pitching an idea for a children’s STEAMTank museum. We strived to educate children through fun, inclusive, and interactive designs that inspire innovation.

After I developed our team branding, we researched different concepts for our exhibit. I crafted a 50- page, branded research report to display our research and findings in an organized and engaging way.

My team decided to centralize our exhibit towards educating 4th–6th graders on Arizona haboobs through a small-scale, interactive, mechanical model. I crafted the model, and various graphics, to excite kids about the science behind our local weather and defuse fears around haboobs. I then designed the visual identity of our exhibit, Gust of Dust, with an original wordmark and paired it a fun color palette inspired by the Arizona Dessert.

Our concept was presented to a panel of educators and industry professionals through a conceptual 3D rendering that I created in Blender, as well as our branded presentation and report.
